isn’t it weird as hell that you can think someone is the coolest person on earth and at the exact same time they can hate themselves

To the left of Nick Cave’s left foot, at the lip of the stage, looking up in reverent, fevered wonder, right cheekbone partially obscured by a power supply: it’s John Darnielle, 16 years old, loving his life for at least the next 35 minutes and probably until at least 2 a.m.

riseofthecommonwoodpile:

the concept of yourfaveisproblematic is not a bad one, but the problem is that any blog that just focuses on finding everything bad about people is that it inevitably ends up just turning into people finding justifications for not liking people they already didn’t like.

the broader, actually good point of the blog is that EVERYONE fucks up and that idolizing a celebrity or anyone else for that matter requires either ignorance or acceptance of the things they’ve done wrong

yourfaveisproblematic like theoretically is about that but it always ends up petty and shallow

plus, making just large bullet-pointed lists of things people have done wrong without ever engaging in their response/the context is a piss-poor form of social justice tbh
